NOTIFICATION: LNG Canada will begin a geotechnical investigation in the Port of Kitimat as part of our agreement with Rio Tinto to build the Rio Tinto Terminal A Extension. Construction of Terminal A Extension will be done by LNG Canada and is subject to a final investment decision by LNG Canada’s Joint Venture Participants. However, select engineering verification work is required beforehand.

During the last week of April, a piling barge will arrive with several attending tugs and support vessels and will remain in Terminal A for 6-8 weeks. Safety is critical to LNG Canada and Rio Tinto, and we are committed to minimizing and managing impacts to community members and the environment.

BJM is the prime contractor for this work, and Triton Environmental and JASCO will conduct the environmental and acoustic monitoring, respectively.

If you have any questions or concerns about this activity, please email feedback@lngcanada.ca or call 250-639-3229.
