“In 2015 and over the past several months, we have been working in partnership with local First Nations to develop Geographic Response Strategies (GRS) along our shipping route. GRS are site-specific plans designed to support effective and timely responses to protect and minimize impacts to sensitive marine areas in the event of a fuel spill. Protecting the marine environment is very important to LNG Canada, which is why we decided to accelerate this initiative in advance of Operations. In collaboration with First Nations and support from Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, we have successfully mapped close to 70 individual sites. We aim to complete this work by the summer of 2019.” – Amy Dopson, Community Indigenous Relations Officer
